Open day - what a turn out!

Wow - a huge Thank You to everyone that came to our Open Day today and braved the chaos to try out some of the games and exercises from our classes - there were SO many new faces and friends!

It was wonderful to see all the different age groups dancing together and to meet everyone even if it was briefly, if you had a question you didn't get a chance to ask please feel free to email or call. I noticed some new dancers that were a bit shy and overwhelmed with all the unfamiliar kids, so if this was your little one please bear in mind that our regular class sizes are much smaller and less intimidating! I also saw some young ballerinas totally enjoying the crowd and the limelight, and were natural entertainers!

Our 2-4 year old and 4-5 year old Ballet classes are now completely full on Sundays, but we do still have a few spaces left on Wednesdays so do get in touch if you are thinking of signing up.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again in class!
- Natalie

Holiday Ballerinas - paper decorations

Our teacher Miss Natalie is usually teaching ballet class, but right now she is busy with paper crafts! She's making paper Ballerinas to hang as ornaments this holiday season - they are still in the decorating stage and will be painted and glittery eventually... we can't wait to see what they'll look like hanging on a Ballet Christmas Tree!

Ballet Inspiration: Anna Pavlova

One of the most influential dancers in the history of Ballet, Anna Pavlova is famous throughout the world for dancing 'The Dying Swan'. We've come across this wonderful rare footage showing some of her other dances filmed in the 1920's. She was instrumental in the development of the modern day Pointe shoe, and had a distinctive style that was not dependent on powerful technical ability and gymnastic tricks, but on acting, musicality and feeling.

More on her life and career can be found on the Wikipedia page
